Completion of Step Four
People I’ve Harmed, Prep for Step Five
Review Sexual Inventory
What did you learn for your Sexual Inventory about how you have been carrying on in your relationships?
Homework for the next few days: Write out a description of what your ideal relationship would look like.
A Separate List of Fears
“We review our fears and put them on paper even though we had no resentment in connection with them.”
Also as part of the homework we write out a separate list of fears unrelated to our resentments.
What I’m afraid of: The dark, loud noises, spiders, high places, confined spaces, flying, success, bullies, anger, being hurt, hurting others… See the list of Fears from the Resources tab for many more examples.
As we write this list we ask God in a simple pray, to remove our fears.
“God please remove my fears!”
Self-reliance failed us. We trust infinite God rather than our own finite selves. We are in the world to play the role he assigns us.
A List of the People I’ve Harmed
Read “It is plain to see…” pg. 66 – Resentment is the number one offender.
“If we have been…” pg. 70 to the end of the chapter.
People who didn’t make the resentment list who you have done harm to.
“We have listed the people we have hurt by our conduct.” Pg. 70
“We made a list of people I had hurt…” Bill’s Story Pg. 13
Write the person’s name, or if you don’t know their name, a descriptive word or two, so you know who you are talking about. Write a short description of harm(s) you have done to them.
Some examples are: stealing, lying, gossiping, fighting, random acts of vandalism and violence (road rage). Harms by omission: Not doing something you could have done to help someone.
Completing Step Four
Review the step four sessions: Where are you at with your homework? What makes us alcoholic?
Review of Step Four
All resentments must be looked at and worked on to master them.
Review each column: anything forgotten, sexual inventory, and my part.
“How are you feeling about your step 5: Apprehensive, fearful, excited, anxious, anything else?”
You can be right, or you can be happy. Mostly, you can’t do both!
The thing to realize out of all this is the simple truth; faith and fear cannot coexist:
FAITH CONQUERS FEAR!
“God please remove my fears!”
Between now and when you start your fifth step, look for anything you never wrote down. Anything you might have forgotten. Anything you didn’t want to include or have overlooked. Anything you weren’t going to put down; those things you were going to take to your grave but now are willing list. “Nothing counted but thoroughness and honest.”
Read from Chapter 6 – Into Action… pg. 72 from the start to; “…walking hand in hand with the Spirit of the Universe.” on pg. 75
